Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan

Located in between the hilly terrains of Aravalli and Vindhyachal ranges, Ranthambore National Park is one of the most visited national parks in India.

It is situated in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. This national park has a picaresque landscape of nature and the park is surrounded by three beautiful water lakes—Padam Talab, Malik Talab and Raj Bagh. The entire park is created of plateaus, valleys, and canals.

Bengal tiger is the main attraction of the park. The other wild animals found in this park are Leopard, Caracal, Leopard cat, Fishing cat and Jungle cat. The other large predators include Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena, Jackal, Desert fox, Palm civet, common mongoose, crocodile, python etc. The two species of antlers are spotted deer (chital), and Sambhar deer. The two kinds of antelopes are Indian Gazelle (Chinkara) and the Bluebull (Nilgai).

The resident birds in the park are large Cormorant, Painted Spurfowl, Sarus Crane, Bronzed winged Jacana, Sandpiper, Kingfisher, Nightjar, Painted Sandgrouse, Great horned owl and various species of migratory birds.

The best time to visit Ranthambore National Park is from October to May. This park attracts a large number of tourists, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers during this period. Tour to Ranthambore National Park also includes visit to the Ranthambore Fort located inside the park. It was once the hunting lodge of the maharajas of Rajasthan.

How to Reach: Jaipur and Kota airports are the nearest airports to Ranthambore. One can also take a train from Jaipur to Ranthambore.
