Desert National Park has been nominated to the list of world heritage site.
It is located near the Jaisalmer city of Rajasthan which covers an area of 3150 sq km. In terms of wildlife this is the largest park in India located amidst the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. The unique eco-system of the desert is a support to the varied wildlife. The plants and animals of the desert are seen in this park which is quite different from other wildlife and worth visiting.
Desert National Park is located in close proximity to the Indo-Pak border. The bird found in the Desert National Park, Jaisalmer are such as sand grouse, spotted eagles, gray partridges, shrikes, demoiselle crane, quails, peafowl bee-eaters, larks, eagles, harriers, falcons, orioles, warblers, babblers, buzzards, kestrel and vultures, to name just a few. The other animals are tail lizard, desert monitors, sand fish, desert cat, hare, blue tailed and green bee-eaters, chameleons, gray partridge, chameleons, and snakes, chinkara, blackbuck, the desert fox, and Bengal fox among many others.
