Kaimkhani Nawabs founded the Jhunjhunu town in the 15th century. Rajput ruler Sardal Singh ruled at Jhunjhunu in 1730 AD. According to myths, after enlightenment the Pandavas had washed their weapons here in the Surya Kund. During Amavasya believers take holy bath on the waters of Kund. Like other Shekhawati villages, Jhunjhunu is also known for the havelis.

Bihari Ji Temple: The colorful paintings and some of the beautiful frescoes are the major attraction of this Jhunjhunu temple.
The Sati Chowk: A portrayal of Rani Sati made from white marble is houses at the Sati Chowk. While at Jhunjhunu one must explore Sati Chowk.
The Modi and Tiberwala Haveli: Modi and Tiberwala Havelis are known for the frescos of the walls. The other worth visiting sites are Laxminath temple, Badal Garg, Mertani Baori and Ajeet Sagar. The best time period to tour Jhunjhunu town is in between October and March. Jhunjhunu can be visited while touring any city or town of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan.
