Teej festival is an important part of cultural life of Rajasthan; women celebrate this festival for well-being of their husbands. It is widely celebrated in other parts of India. The auspicious occasion of Teej festival usually falls at the advent of Monsoon season, in between the months of July and August.

The women folk of Rajasthan celebrate this festival with great vibe and color. Women celebrate this festival singing summer songs and rope swing is a part of this festival. During this festival the parents send sweets and gifts to their married daughters. The engaged girls receive a packet of gift from the in-laws. The married women keep fast in devotion to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi and they worship the deities. They decorate their hands with henna and wear the best attires.


Teej festival is celebrated in various locations of the state, yet Jaipur, the capital city wears a new look during this festival. It is celebrated with great pomp and show on the roads of Jaipur. The cultural procession is truly an endless fiesta. If rain comes on the day of the celebration, it is considered as auspicious and indicates the direct blessings from God.
