Marwar Festival

Marwar festival is celebrated in devotion to glory and brave deeds of Marwar rulers in Jodhpur, the sun city of Rajasthan. This festival is mainly a festival of dance and music of the Marwar region.

The Rajput warriors of the Marwar region and their brave deeds are remembered at this festival. This festival is celebrated on the day of Full Moon of Sharad Purnima which falls in the English months of September and October. This festival was once known as Maand festival. Myths, legends of the city are enacted by the artistes of the city. Cultural programs are the main spirit of the festival.

The venue of this grand festival is the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan Palace, the residence of the royal family.
